The RHU

THE RHU


The RHU is a relatively new housing option in the BOP. RHU stands for “Restricted Housing Unit.” As there are so many inmates who cannot walk at a regular mainline BOP USP without getting assaulted or murdered. The BOP has come up with the RHU as a solution, which completely segregates bad paperwork USP inmates in one unit of said USP where they’ll have no contact with the rest of the population. RHUs are essentially check in/protective custody units that house gang drop outs, rats, and sex offenders.
